Meet Our Squadron.
The Sons of AMVETS Squadron 127 was incubating when Commander John Vacho of AMVETS Post 127 had a vision to bring together men with passion and commitment to serve area veterans. Although not Veterans themselves, the men are proud family members of veterans. The small group met and soon after they built a core of 8 founding members who began the process of becoming an official squadron. They were given their official charter on June 27, 2021 and became Sons of AMVETS Squadron 127.

Listed below are the officers and members of the Sons of AMVETS Squadron 127. Each man has each made a commitment to serving veterans and their communities in Rusk County. We stand proudly as a squadron of AmVets Post 127 and honor and respect all who have served and are serving yet today!
David Roth *
Commander
I was born in Ladysmith Wisconsin and lived here all my life. I married and raised three wonderful boys who are now active members in the United States Army. I am the proud father of a Staff Sergeant, Sergeant First Class, and a Captain. I have always had great respect for our nation’s flag and because of my passion am now the Commander of the Vacho-Lybert Sons of AmVets Squadron 127. I lead a squadron whose patriotism runs deep and we are all honored to serve our veterans and their communities.
Jeff Wallace *
First Vice
I am married to Sherry Wallace and together we share 7 children, and 10 grand-children. Although several of our children live spread out across the United States, it doesn’t bother us because we love to travel to visit them! We have been successful in owning a café and currently own and operate a supper club, which keeps us very busy. I have been fortunate throughout my career to work in various positions; all serving my community. I worked part-time as an EMT and Fire Department during the early-mid 90s and full-time as a Deputy Sheriff. My career in law enforcement began in 1996 working in Sawyer County. In 2001, I made the transfer to Rusk County to continue working as a Deputy Sheriff and eventually became a K9 handler for the department. In 2015, I was elected Rusk County Sheriff and continue to hold that position. Throughout my time in Rusk County, I have served my community by volunteering my time as well. I am currently a member of the local Lions Club and the Sons of AmVets. During my time volunteering, we help to organize and fundraise for many local events. I have a lot of pride in serving my community and am proud to be part of it.

My name is Mark Hanson and I have called Ladysmith my home for my entire life. My wife Laurie and I have raised 6 wonderful children, one of whom currently serves in the 950th Army National Guard in Superior Wi. I have spent a large portion of my days serving our community investing 25 years with the Ladysmith Fire Department. My patriotism for this country runs deep. runs deep. I was rewarded two years ago with the opportunity to help start a local chapter of the Sons of AmVets. Squadron 127 was born May27th, 2021 with 10 charter members. With hard work and the support of the community, there are endless opportunities ahead of us to support veterans and the comm unities in which they live. Proud to be an American Patriot!

David Lane *
Judge Advocate
My name is David Lane and I am very proud to be a member of Sons of AMVETS Squadron 127 of Ladysmith Wisconsin. I came from a family that has many Veterans. I am a proud son of a WWII veteran and many other family members that have served our great country. I joined the Sons so I could give back to those that gave so much to all of us, plus the fellowship of the AMVETS, and making a difference in our community. The patriotism I see every day from our squadron is amazing. When it comes to helping each other and the heroic veterans we serve, we are all there and proud to be able to assist.
