DONATING TO A GOOD CAUSE — A $5,000 donation is made Saturday night by Sons of Amvets Squadron 127 in Ladysmith to Warhawk Service Dogs. The non-profit organization in Council Bluffs, Iowa, provides full-trained service dogs to military veterans experiencing post traumatic stress disorder. The funds were raised through the squadron selling tickets to a local concert featuring popular northwoods performer Chris Kroeze. Fundraising challenges made during the one-night-only event helped boost total proceeds to almost $20,000. RIFLE WINNER — Ladysmith Sons of Amvets Post 127 members Squadron Commander Dave Roth (left) and Mark Bader (right) present the grand prize Henry Golden Boy rifle to Ladysmith resident Thad Thompson. The firearm valued at more than $500 was given away at the group’s Saturday fundraiser featuring a concert by northwoods singing sensation Chris Kroeze. The event raised more than $20,000. Donation to Wreaths 2022
DONATION — Sons of Amvets Squadron 127 in Ladysmith donates $3,000 to Wreaths Across America in Rusk County. Accepting the donation are (front, center) Don and Dawn Nicholson, location coordinators of the local Wreaths Across America program, and (in back) squadron members. Wreaths Across America remembers and honors veterans through the laying of remembrance wreaths on the graves of the nation’s fallen heroes and saying the name of each and every veteran aloud.

HONORING THE VETERANS — Volunteers place flags and spruce up bronze military markers at Riverside Cemetery, Sunday, ahead of Veterans Day this week. Among the volunteers were members of Sons of AMVETS Ladysmith Squadron 127. Helping were (from left) Commander Dave Roth, Laurie Hanson, Mark Hanson and Dave Lane. Not pictured are Luke Klink and Darcy Dent. There were 820 veterans’ headstones tended to. Veterans Day is Thursday, Nov. 11.

Flag Repair 2021
FIXING FLAGS — Sons of AMVETS Ladysmith Squadron Commander Dave Roth helps repair flags at Riverside Cemetery with volunteer Darcy Gindt. The organization is taking over care of the flags posted at gravesites of military veterans.
Wreath Cleanup April 2022
WREATH CLEANUP — A spring wreath clean-up is held at Riverside Cemetery in Ladysmith. Members of the Ladysmith Sons of Amvets Squadron 127 and Amvets Post 127 participated in the April event. About two dozen members participated with one individual driving from Tomahawk and another from Chippewa Falls to join in.

Donation to Wreaths Across America

DONATION — Ladysmith Sons of Amvets Squadron 127 presents a $2,500 donation toward the new veterans pavilion being built in Memorial Park in the city. Presenting are squadron members to Alan Christianson (center).
